Head of education group appointed
The first executive director of the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC) partnership has been appointed.

Dr Ian Tunbridge, the dean of the University of Plymouth Colleges, will take up the position.

He said one of his main priorities would be to bring more higher paid jobs to Cornwall and to encourage graduates to return to the county to work.

The CUC partnership was set up to boost funding and coordinate the growth of university education in Cornwall.

He also wants to build a reputation for world class academic research to encourage more investment in Cornwall.

CUC includes the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth, University College Falmouth, the Open University, the College of St Mark and St John, Cornwall College, Truro College and Penwith College.
