Sailor embarks on charity voyage
Steve Cooksey
Steve Cooksey hopes to complete the journey in about 47 days
A Cornish man is braving the weather to sail around Britain for charity.

Steve Cooksey from North Petherwin near Launceston is taking on the challenge with another sailor from Surrey and going anti-clockwise round the country.

He has already raised more than £3,500 for the RNLI and is setting off from Fowey. He hopes to complete the 1,800-mile journey in about 47 days.

Mr Cooksey has an added incentive for getting back on time as his wife is due to have a baby in a few months.

"The baby isn't due until October but I've planned this venture so we are back in plenty of time," he said.

"We are due to arrive home in Fowey during the towns famous Royal Regatta. I'm hoping it will be just at the moment that the Red Arrows start their annual display."
