Fire brigade axes night staffing
Night fire
The Fire Brigades Union says it will campaign against the plans
Cornwall Fire Brigade has announced plans to axe the county's only two night-staffed stations.

The brigade's proposals for the stations at Falmouth and Camborne have been drawn up because of the county council's budget constraints.

Stations will not be staffed after 1800 GMT. Emergency cover would be provided by firefighters responding from home, adding about five minutes to call outs.

The Fire Brigades Union has described the proposals as unacceptable.

It said it intends to launch a campaign to oppose them.
