Next stretch of £93m road to open
A30 bypass at Goss Moor
The rest of the scheme should open in July
The next stretch of the £93m A30 across Goss Moor in Cornwall is set to open next week.

The three-mile section between Victoria and Innis Downs will be ready for Monday morning's rush hour.

Last month a four-mile section of the new A30 opened between Indian Queens and Victoria.

Early on Monday morning, the next part will come into use but there will still be a contraflow with a speed limit at the western end while work continues.

'Huge improvement'

Slip roads at Innis Downs will be closed so drivers from Lanivet and St Austell will be diverted to the new Victoria Interchange rather than using the new Innis Downs junction.

The rest of the scheme is expected to open towards the end of July.

The road between Indian Queens and Victoria bypasses the notorious accident blackspot at the Iron Bridge and the new road has been diverted north of Goss Moor to protect sensitive wildlife habitats.

Highways Agency project leader Andrew Alcorn said: "This will make a huge improvement to the journeys of thousands of people using the A30 in Cornwall."
