Man dies in moor gyrocopter crash
A man has died in a gyrocopter crash on a moor in Cornwall.

The single-seat aircraft came down on marshy farmland on Bodmin Moor just after 1000 BST on Thursday.

The pilot, who was in his 60s and from Somerset, was travelling from Taunton to Bodmin Airfield. Air accident investigators will examine the scene.

A no-fly zone has been put in place and an area around Simonstone Farm, between Temple and Colliford Lake, has been cordoned off by police.

Michael Cowan, who is a pilot on holiday in Cornwall, witnessed the crash, saying the aircraft looked like a kite falling because of the speed it came down.

He said: "I wouldn't have said it was flying at above 1,000ft [305m].

"It just looked as if the rotor folded in on itself and down it came. It fell so quickly that we didn't want to believe what we were seeing."
