Shortcut road consultation ends
A public consultation on new speed limits at a controversial rat-run in Cornwall is ending.

Kea Downs Road was closed to traffic in 2004 after it was increasingly used as a shortcut for drivers between Chiverton Cross and Truro.

Wednesday marks the end of the two-month public consultation launched by Cornwall County Council on reopening the road with a 40mph speed limit.

Views will be considered before a final decision is made to reopen the road.

The council plans to install calming measures before the road is opened again in both directions.

The planned 40mph speed limit would be introduced throughout the length of the road and by-ways.

Residents have objected saying it is destined to become a dangerous rat-run again.
