Safety praised at death fire home
Firefighters say safety precautions at a Cornish care home where a man died in a fire were "extremely good".

A man in his 50s died following a fire which began in a bedsit at St Theresa's Cheshire Home at Longrock near Penzance on Saturday afternoon.

Fire crews and staff helped take other elderly and disabled residents to safety and nobody else was hurt.

Station Officer Andy Barrett said: "The fire safety precautions were extremely good and helped stop the fire."

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Peter Denning, regional director of Leonard Cheshire Homes, described the incident as "tragic".
