House bypass plan shocks couple
Nick and Ann Truckle outside their Liskeard home
The chance discovery has angered the couple
A couple who live in Cornwall have found out by accident that their home could be demolished to make way for a bypass scheme.

Nick and Ann Truckle, from Liskeard, made the unwelcome discovery at a recent public inquiry into plans for a bypass at Dobwalls.

The couple support a £33.5m scheme proposed by the Highways Agency.

But an alternative scheme proposed by Liskeard Town Council could involve their home being demolished.

Inspectorate decision

The councillor behind the plans said they had overcome problems with the preferred route, but it would include the demolition of the Truckle's home to make way for a relief road.

Mr Truckle told BBC News his initial shock has turned to anger.

"Why have I had to come to a public inquiry to find out, by chance, the threat to my property," he said.

The Highways Agency said it did not favour the town council's alternative scheme.

A decision is due to be made by an independent inspector, appointed by the Planning Inspectorate Agency, in the spring.
