Resort surf centre exceeds hopes
Fistral has hosted seven new competitions
Tourism leaders say a 1.8m surf centre in Newquay has exceeded all their expectations.

The Fistral Surf Centre was co-financed by Restormel Borough Council, Cornwall County Council, a private contribution and 500,000 of Objective One money.

It provides high quality accommodation for the British Surfing Association and Surf Life Saving Club, as well as a restaurant and retail facilities.

The centre now provides the equivalent of 65 full time jobs.

It has also led to Fistral beach hosting seven new surfing competitions.

Newquay's tourism development manager Paul Wright says Newquay now has a facility it can be proud of with both residents and visitors being able to see the benefits.
