Peruvian surfer takes top honours

Sofia Mulanovich beat best friend Chelsea Georgeson
Sofia Mulanovich has won the fifth leg of the Women's World Surfing Championships, held in north Cornwall.

Peruvian Mulanovich, 21, beat best friend Chelsea Georgeson after both dominated the event at Perranporth.

Mulanovich earned the highest wave score of the event and Australian Georgeson the highest heat score.

It is the first time the European leg of the contest has been held in the UK and the first time the pair have surfed against each other all year.
