A £3m scheme to develop Newlyn Art Gallery is set to begin this winter.
The plans will see the refurbishment of the historic gallery as well as adding an extension.
The two-part project will improve the existing building and also create a new gallery space and education facility at Penzance's old telephone exchange.
Most of the funding for the scheme has come from the Arts Lottery Capital Programme and Objective one, with contributions from private trusts.
Detailed design work on both projects has been carried out and will shortly be offered for tender.
Newlyn will continue to build on its reputation for exhibitions and learning programmes while the Exchange will offer local, national and international showings and learning opportunities for visitors.
Construction work at the gallery could begin in January.
