Class drives safety message home
Students in Cornwall hoping to learn to drive are being given a hard-hitting introduction to issues involved in the county council's Road Safety Unit.

The unit's Young Driver Education Programme is aimed at sixth-formers.

The one-day workshops will use a mixture of problem-solving exercises, videos, demonstrations and discussions.

Drivers between 17 and 21 represent fewer than 10% of licence holders but are involved in about 20% all road traffic crashes that involve injury.

Representatives of other agencies, including Trading Standards, police and the fire brigade, are also involved in the workshops.
