Districts aim for Fair Trade name
Two areas of Cornwall are working towards achieving Fair Trade status.

Falmouth and Penwith would be the first in the county to qualify, but have to satisfy five criteria before they can join a list of 100 towns and cities.

To claim official status the local council must pass a resolution to support developing countries' growers.

A range of the products must also be available in local shops and cafes, and community organisations like churches and schools must also be involved.

The council must also serve Fair Trade tea and coffee at its offices and meetings.
