Police investigating the murder of a woman in Cornwall have spent the night carrying out forensic examinations at the scene.

The body of the 59-year-old woman was discovered with stab wounds at a bungalow in Carbis Bay on Wednesday by the elderly occupant of the property.

It is thought woman was a cleaner at the property in St Ives Road.

Officers want to speak to anyone who was in the Wayside area of St Ives Road on Wednesday morning.

'Big shock'

A team of 60 police are working on the murder inquiry,.

Police said forensic examination of the scene would take at least another 24 hours.

The bungalow is set slightly back from St Ives Road, the main road along the coast between St Ives and Carbis Bay, and is only a few hundred yards from the sea.

Local newsagent Brian Morris said the incident had come as a "big shock" to everyone in Carbis Bay, where there were many senior citizens living.
