Superstore close to hit 130 jobs
Big W Redruth
Supermarket chain Tesco has bought the Big W site
More than 130 jobs could be lost in west Cornwall with the closure of a major superstore.

The Big W store in Redruth, part of the Woolworths group, is to shut on 5 February. It employs 133 people.

The company said it had been making a review of its stores around the country and that some were to be closed and others to be reduced in size.

Woolworths said it was making every effort to redeploy staff but admitted there would be redundancies.

Woolworths added that supermarket chain Tesco has bought the site.
