Hospital set for transformation
St Lawrence's Hospital in Bodmin
The former hospital will be almost completely rebuilt
Work has started on transforming part of a former Cornish hospital into a 4.3m hi-tech business park.

Over the next nine months St Lawrence's Hospital in Bodmin will be almost completely rebuilt with a new loop road, parkland and a pond.

It is hoped that when complete, the business park could create more than 800 jobs.

The Beacon Technology Park will be set in 17 acres with footpaths and cycle ways linking it to the rest of Bodmin.

The project has received nearly 3m from the South West RDA, over 1m of Objective One funding and 100,000 from North Cornwall District Council.

The RDA hopes that the first plot of land will be turned into a working business area by July 2007.
