Piran flagflyers will be warned

Caradon Council says it will not be changing its stance
Caradon District Council says it will continue to advise people that planning approval is needed for flying the Cornish flag.

Housing and Planning minister Keith Hill says it is down to individual councils to decide if consent is required to fly the Flag of St Piran.

Caradon says it will not be changing the stance it adopted 10 years ago.

But planning officer Christopher Montagu said legal action would not be taken against those without permission.

He said: "We will continue to tell people what the legislation says.

"However, we interpret that part of the legislation in a very sensible manner and we will not take formal enforcement action to seek the removal of St Piran flags."
