A man from Cornwall has been sent to prison for three years for killing his stepbrother in a drunken brawl.
The court was told Karl and Kenny Moroney had been drinking when Kenny lunged at his stepbrother with a knife and stabbed him in the arm.
Karl Moroney retaliated and stabbed Kenny in the heart.
Karl Moroney, 26, of Hawkins Road, Newquay, was found guilty of manslaughter. The judge at Truro Crown Court said it was a family tragedy.
Mr Justice Steel described Karl Moroney as a gentle giant. He said he believed there was no intention to kill and Karl Moroney had been provoked.
