The body was recovered by a boat about eight miles from The Lizard
The body of a man has been found in the sea off the Cornwall coast.

It was recovered by a boat fishing about eight miles offshore from The Lizard in the south of the county.

The man has been described as being in his 60s, with a grey beard, grey hair and was wearing blue overalls when his body was discovered.

Police are attempting formally to identify the man. A post-mortem examination is being carried out on the body on Saturday.

Crew tallies

Coastguards have said they will try and help the police in identifying who the man was.

Coastguard James Instance said: "The police have possession of the body itself and they will try and make the identification.

"What we will do is broadcast to any vessels who may have been in or through the area in the last two or three and ask them to check the numbers of crew on board, or report whether they have had any incidents.

"Hopefully, they will tally the numbers on board and something will come back to us."
