Merger on the menu for processor
A food processing company in Cornwall announced on Tuesday that it is to merge with a Danish meat company.

Roach Foods, which is based in Bodmin and employees 1,600 people in four plants, has said there will be no job losses at present.

The firm is merging with Warwickshire-based Tulip, which is a subsidiary of Danish Crown.

Danish Crown is one of the biggest meat food processing companies in Europe and currently employs 23,000 staff.

The employees who work for Roach Foods have been told of the merger, but are being reassured that there are no current plans for redundancies or job losses.

The company said it was merging to consolidate its position in the market, describing the move as "the best way forward".
