Fens aircraft crash pilot named

Air accident investigators are taking the wreckage to Farnborough for examination

Police have released the name of the pilot of a light aircraft who died when his aircraft crashed into the River Nene in a remote part of the Fens.

Francis Joseph Ball, 70, of Jubilee Farm, Plash Drove, Tholomas Drove, Wisbech St Mary, died from multiple injuries on Sunday.

An inquest into his death is due to open this later.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) is carrying out an investigation into the crash in Cambridgeshire.
