Men injured in two gang attacks

One man has been badly injured and another left critically ill in hospital following two teenage gang attacks in Peterborough in the last week.

On Friday, a 21-year-old received "nasty" injuries when a gang of eight teenagers attacked him while he was walking through Furze Ride underpass.

A second man is in a critical state after being attacked while cycling by Bluebell Avenue on Tuesday night.

Police are waiting to speak to the 46-year-old to see if the two are linked.

He is in Peterborough District Hospital with severe facial injuries.

Det Insp Rebecca Tipping said: "The details are sketchy at the moment because we are not yet able to talk to the victim.

"Police are conducting forensic examinations at the scene, as well as speaking to residents in the area."

The group of attackers on Friday night are described as white and aged between 17 and 19.

One had a gravelly voice, was stocky with short light brown or blond hair and about 5ft 10in (1.7m) tall. He wore dark jeans, a dark hooded top with a dark Adidas jacket.
