All-girl Muslim school has opened

An all-girl school for Muslims has opened in Cambridgeshire and is believed to be the first in the East.

The secondary school in Peterborough has 23 students and is being paid for by members of the Asian community.

The school will be regularly checked by Ofsted and offers the full curriculum. Parents will pay £3,000 a year to send their daughters here.

The school's supporters said they will welcome pupils from all faiths and they denied children would become isolated.

The school hopes there will be 200 students in five years time.
