Man injured as fire destroys boat

Neighbouring boat owner Roger Gunkel said there was nothing he could do to stop the fire

A man suffered burns when his boat was destroyed by fire on the River Cam, north of Cambridge.

Two crews from Soham and one crew from Cambridge and a rescue vehicle were called to the fire on a boat moored at Old School Lane in Upware.

The fire service said one man suffered burns to his arms.

The fire was filmed by Roger Gunker, who lives in a neighbouring boat and said he was woken by an explosion but could do nothing to fight the fire.
