Police probe street blood mystery

Police are seeking an injured man after pools of blood were discovered on a street in Cambridge.

Cambridgeshire Police were notified of blood on cars in the Chesterton Hall Crescent area on Wednesday morning, but have not traced the injured person.

They hope a man in his 60s, from Ely, who was treated by paramedics for facial injuries, will come forward.

Det Insp Billy Bremner said he wanted to get to the bottom of the mystery and be sure no crime had been committed.

"The man wasn't able to describe how he got these injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital for treatment," added Det Insp Bremner.

"He was later discharged and we believe he may live in the Ely area, which is what he told hospital staff.

"I would like this man to call me. It may be that he was a victim of crime so we will be able to help him. Either way, we would like to know what happened."
