Agent resigns on 'health grounds'

A long-standing Conservative Party agent has resigned just 48 hours before his MP faces questions over his expenses claims.

Sir Peter Brown was the agent of Huntingdon MP Jonathan Djanogly.

Mr Djanogly is due before his party on Thursday after he was criticised for claiming almost £5,000 to have automatic gates installed at his home.

Sir Peter, who worked for many years for former prime minister John Major, said he had left on health grounds.
