Numbers caught drink-driving fall

The number of people caught drink driving in Cambridgeshire during the summer police campaign has fallen.

The campaign ran throughout June and saw 113 people arrested, compared to 133 the previous year.

Officers breath-tested all motorists involved in collisions, said Cambridgeshire Police.

Officers also conducted a number of stop checks across the county to target those motorists driving under the influence of alcohol.

Pc Tony Barrios, casualty reduction officer, said: "It is encouraging to see that the number of people driving under the influence is falling. However, it is always disappointing to see that some drivers are still ignoring the law."
