Four escape firebombed restaurant

Two people were treated for the effects of smoke by paramedics after a restaurant in Cambridgeshire was firebombed late on Sunday night.

Three bottles of accelerant were thrown through the window of Casa do Alenteja restaurant on Cromwell Road in Peterborough just before midnight.

Four people escaped after attempting to tackle the fire with an extinguisher.

"The four adults were very lucky to get out without serious injury or even death," a fire service spokesman said.

Police have appealed for information about the attack and an investigation has begun.

Crews were called from Dogsthorpe and Stanground fire stations and spent more than an hour extinguishing the fire and checking the premises.
