Man arrested after rape released

A 23-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of rape and attempted murder following an attack on a mother-of-two, has been released without charge.

The 27-year-old woman was raped on the cycle path parallel to Gresley Way, Peterborough, at 0320 BST on 19 May.

The woman was grabbed from behind as she walked, causing her to fall unconscious. Medical tests later showed she had been raped.

The man, from Peterborough, arrested on Friday evening, has now been released.
