Man is arrested after woman raped

A 23-year-old man from Peterborough has been arrested on suspicion of rape and attempted murder following an attack on a mother-of-two.

The 27-year-old woman was raped on the cycle path parallel to Gresley Way, Peterborough, at 0320 BST on 19 May.

The woman was grabbed from behind as she walked, causing her to fall unconscious. Medical tests later showed she had been raped.

The man was arrested in Peterborough city centre on Friday evening.
