A CCTV image of a man wanted in connection with the rape of a woman on a Peterborough cycle path has been released by police.

The 27-year-old victim was attacked on the path, parallel to Gresley Way, at about 0320 BST on 19 May.

A man grabbed her from behind as she was walked causing her to fall unconscious. Medical tests later showed she had been raped.

Police have appealed for the man to come forward.

Det Sgt Martyn Elmer said: "The CCTV, although poor quality, clearly shows someone wearing a baseball cap, dressed in light clothing.

"This person was captured on CCTV riding a bike in the Hampton Court area at 0405 BST on Tuesday morning.

"We would like this person to get in touch so that we can eliminate them from our enquiries."

The woman's attacker is described as white, aged between 19 and 23, 5ft 9in (1.75m) tall and of medium build.

He was wearing a white baseball cap, a light-coloured zip-up top and light coloured bottoms.
