The new brand for the city aims to capture Peterborough's spirit

A city in Cambridgeshire has unveiled its new brand identity to accompany the slogan: "The Future Is You."

Peterborough City Council says the new identity "captures the city's spirit - aiming to bring a sense of pride and purpose for the community".

The council adds: "It aims to encourage a vibrant, cosmopolitan culture to energise the city centre and promote Peterborough as a desirable city."

The brand was developed after consulting local residents and firms.

'Acts as beacon'

Peterborough cabinet member for economic regeneration Graham Murphy said: "A strong and consistent identity will allow us to engage with residents and attract businesses to demonstrate this both nationally and internationally."

Roger Hutchings, centre director of Queensgate Shopping Centre commented: "The new identity will act as a beacon.

"The success of Queensgate is inextricably linked to that of Peterborough.

"We look forward both to contributing and deriving benefit from the gains that will arise from having a clear focus for the aspirations of the city."

On Tuesday evening the council said it was not able to say how much the logo cost, but hoped to provide the information later.
