Health trust is given top marks

Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge
Addenbrooke's was rated "excellent" for the quality of its services

Addenbrooke's Hospital and the Rosie maternity unit in Cambridge have scored top marks in the Healthcare Commission's annual report.

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs them, was rated "excellent" for quality of services and use of resources.

The hospitals met all targets and achieved the highest possible scores for safety and cleanliness.

The standard of care and waiting times were also praised.

Dr Gareth Goodier, the trust's chief executive, said: "We've been busier than ever before, but we've kept the top rating - and that shows that this really is one of the country's leading NHS trusts.

"Patients coming here can feel confident that they're being treated by the best possible team.

"We are going from strength to strength - and that's down to our staff.

"I'd like to thank everyone here for their hard work and commitment."
