Royal visit for car manufacturer

Lola has built nearly 4,000 competition cars

The Duke of York is visiting a racing car factory in Cambridgeshire as part of its celebrations of 50 years in motor sport.

Founded by Eric Broadley in 1958, the Huntingdon-based Lola Cars has built almost 4,000 competitive cars and has won many race and championship titles.

Prince Andrew will tour the factory and unveil a 50th anniversary plaque.

On Sunday, up to 16 race cars will parade along the streets of the town, ending in the market square.

Historic cars in the parade will include the Mk1, the first Lola sportscar ever built and the Lola T92 that Sir Jackie Stewart raced at the Indianapolis 500 in 1967.
