Threat to machinery factory jobs

Staff at a food processing machinery factory in Cambridgeshire have been warned more than 50 jobs could be axed.

Baker Perkins Limited employs 400 people at Paston in Peterborough.

The company designs and manufactures processing equipment to make bread, confectionery, snacks, breakfast cereals and biscuits.

A consultation process with employee representatives has begun and volunteers for redundancy are now being sought, a company spokesman said.
