A fire has severely damaged a British Transport Police (BTP) building near Peterborough Railway Station.

Firefighters were called to the blaze, which is being treated as suspicious, in the early hours of the morning.

A fire service spokesman said the blaze had been extinguished and no-one was hurt, but extensive damage had been caused to the building.

Train services were unaffected by the fire. The spokesman said the building was a key regional office of the BTP.
