Plan to develop district launched

Cutting waste, safer communities and meeting housing needs have been set as priorities for action over the next three years by a district council.

East Cambridgeshire set out its new objectives in a plan endorsed by councillors from all political parties.

Officers are to keep track of progress against achieving these goals and this information will be made public.

Fred Brown, council leader, said they "wanted to protect, enhance and develop the quality of residents' lives".

He added: "This is why we are focusing on areas such as recycling, affordable housing and making our communities safer.

"This plan provides a really clear picture of our priorities and will help the residents understand the council and its direction."
