An overhaul of public areas in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, has been planned to enhance "the vibrancy and attractiveness" of the city.

The scheme by council-body Opportunity Peterborough aims to link public areas through their design and make greater use of public spaces.

Initial ideas include water features and art in the public squares and de-cluttering street furniture.

A full public consultation on the scheme is due to begin in mid-May.

Steve Bowyer, of Opportunity Peterborough, said: "The redevelopment of Peterborough's streets and public squares will play an important role in the city's renewal and economic development."
