KD Lang to headline folk festival

Canadian singer-songwriter KD Lang is appearing at the festival

The Grammy Award-winning performer KD Lang is to headline the 2008 Cambridge Folk Festival, it has been announced.

The 44th festival takes place at Cherry Hinton Hall, Cambridge, between 31 July and 3 August this year.

Other artists booked include singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading, punk-folk outfit the Levellers and Billy Bragg.

Also, one of last year's festival favourites Mojo Folk Album 2007 winner Lisa Knapp is returning in 2008.

There will also be an appearance by multi-cultural folk super group The Imagined Village, which includes Martin Carthy, Eliza Carthy, Billy Bragg, Sheila Chandra, Johnny Kalsi, Simon Emmerson and Chris Wood, with new interpretations of English traditional compositions.

Other highlights include American singer and activist Judy Collins, US country-blues musician John Hiatt and singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright.
