Memorial service for city broker
A memorial service has been held for a city broker who was shot dead at his home in a Cambridgeshire village.

Simon Woodward died at his home in Swan Lane from a gunshot wound to his groin in Fenstanton, on 4 January.

His widow Karen Woodward, 37, was among more than 200 mourners who attended the service at the Church of St Peter and Paul, in Fenstanton.

She is due to answer bail on 1 February after being questioned by police about events leading up to his death.

The order of service read: "Simon would not have wanted anyone to feel sad today. He would have wanted us all to be happy.

"Let us remember Simon as the gregarious, fun-loving and big-hearted gentleman that he was."

Celebration of life

The memorial service featured some of the shooting enthusiast's favourite music and was designed to be a celebration of his life.

Pink Floyd's Time was played as friends and family walked into the village church, just yards from the Woodward's family home.

Mourners included Mr Woodward's colleagues from Primex in London and fellow shooting syndicate members.

Mr Woodward's two children were not in church for the service led by the Rev Robin McKenzie.

Two uniformed police officers stood outside the church throughout the ceremony which was also attended by CID officers.

Mr Woodward is due to be buried following a separate private family service in the near future.
