More gastroenteritis at hospital
Gastroenteritis bug
Millions of people are hit by gastroenteritis every winter
A Cambridgeshire hospital is suffering a severe outbreak of a virulent strain of Norovirus - the winter sickness bug.

Several wards remain closed at Hinchingbrooke Hospital at Huntingdon following an outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting among staff and patients.

Hospital staff said two new cases have occurred in the past 48 hours and 23 people already have the condition.

Norovirus was a major cause of infectious gastroenteritis and is most prevalent in autumn and winter.

The bug causes nausea and diarrhoea and is easily spread in places where groups of people are in close proximity.
