College plans sports development
Plans for a sports centre at a college in Cambridgeshire have been unveiled.

The College of West Anglia has announced it aims to build extensive sports facilities at its new campus, which is due to open in 2009.

The college applied to Sport England for funding for the centre which, if given the go-ahead, will include a flood-lit pitch, sports hall and gym.

The college said it hopes to provide facilities for local community use as well as for students.

Andrew Gedge, head of sports at the college, said: "We are very keen to be able to provide these facilities to the people of Fenland and are optimistic for a successful bid."
