New memorial to Protestant martyr
King's College Cambridge
John Hullier was a scholar at King's College, Cambridge
A memorial plaque has been unveiled in Cambridge on the spot where a 16th Century Protestant martyr was burned at the stake.

John Hullier was executed for his faith during the reign of Queen Mary. He had been a scholar at King's College in Cambridge and a curate at Babraham.

The unveiling ceremony on Jesus Green in Cambridge was organised by the city's Presbyterian Church.

The Rev Ian Hamilton said the event was a reminder of the need for tolerance.

"History has a remarkable way of humbling us as well as challenging us," the clergyman said.

"If we forget its role we can become prey to every wind of change. It keeps us on track."
