Diabetes and obesity unit opens
A new unit is being opened on Friday at a Cambridgeshire hospital to carry out medical research into the prevention of diabetes and obesity.

The facility will be opened at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Ely.

The unit, which costs about £350,000, will assess volunteers who have taken part in the Medical Research Council (MRC) Fenland study.

The study looks at the how genetic and lifestyle factors play a part in diabetes and obesity.

The study involves people who were born in east Cambridgeshire between 1950 and 1975.
