Plea to reduce A14 speed limits
Speed limits could be brought down for a trial period on sections of the A14 in Cambridgeshire in a bid to cut the number of road deaths and accidents.

The section from Spittals interchange at Huntingdon to the Histon roundabout at Cambridge would be affected.

Huntingdonshire District Council has asked the Highways Agency for a 40mph limit at Spittals and 60mph to Histon.

This part of the road has seen 16 deaths in the last four years and nearly 300 accidents in 2004.

The council also wants a traffic light scheme introduced at Spittals. It says this would improve safety but not slow down traffic flow.
