WWII bomb detonation is delayed
Bomb disposal team in Cambridgeshire
A bomb disposal team was called in to deal with a second bomb
An unexploded World War II bomb in a field near Cambridge is set to cause disruption for another day.

Detonation of the bomb, which was due to be carried out on Wednesday, will now take place on Thursday. No reason was given for the delay.

Homes were evacuated and roads diverted for RAF specialists to carry out a controlled explosion on the bomb, found near Rampton Road in Longstanton.

Residents have been allowed home but will be moved again on Thursday.

Police said diversions and road closures would remain in place overnight.

Asylum seekers and staff at Oakington Reception Centre and residents were also moved from the Rampton Road area last weekend when surveyors stumbled on another World War II bomb.

Disposal experts spent two days making the 500lb bomb safe and a controlled explosion left a crater that was 30 metres wide.

As the RAF team were checking the surrounding area for shrapnel on Monday they came across the second bomb, just 15 metres from the edge of the blast crater.
