A hospital trust is calling for the public's cooperation and patience while work is carried out on a new £26m four-floor surgical wing.
The Garrett Anderson Centre will have four operating theatres
Prospect Healthcare will build the Garrett Anderson Centre at Ipswich Hospital to boost surgery facilities.
It will house four operating theatres, a 40-bed short stay surgical unit plus an accident and emergency department.
From Monday, staff and visitor car parking will be reallocated ready for the start of work in early 2006.
Ipswich Hospital Trust's director of estate and facilities Steve Harrup said: "We are doing everything we can to minimise the disruption whilst we carry out this essential preparatory work.
"Our community's understanding, patience and co-operation would be greatly appreciated in helping us develop this critically important new treatment centre."
Visitors to the hospital are advised to use the nearby Park and Ride scheme from Martlesham.
