A local government officer at Cambridgeshire County Council has won the Public Servant of the Year Award.
Nikki Piper - who works for trading standards - collected the national prize at the Guardian Public Services Awards on Tuesday night.
Ms Piper beat off four other finalists to win the accolade for setting up a consumer website called Ask Cedric.
The website gives businesses and community groups information about consumer rights and the law.
