Bypass finally opens to traffic
A new bypass for a Cambridgeshire village finally opens on Tuesday afternoon - nearly 70 years after plans for the road were first mooted.

The campaign for a new bypass at Caxton near Cambridge began in 1936, and since then traffic running through the village has continued to grow.

Now, 40-tonne lorries regularly pass through the village.

The new road, which took 11 months to build, runs from Lower Cambourne around Caxton, and joins the A1198.

It will officially open at 1400 BST.
