Work on a £28m bypass to relieve congestion on one of Cambridgeshire's busiest roads has got underway with a visit from the transport minister.
The bypass on the A47 in Thorney, near Peterborough, will provide three miles of new dual carriageway and three roundabouts.
Minister David Jamieson, said: "It will bring significant improvements to the lives of people living in Thorney.
"It will also improve safety and reduce journey times."
During his visit to the site on Tuesday, Mr Jamieson helped the team dig a new drainage channel using an excavator.
He added: "I look forward to seeing the bypass open and traffic flowing freely along it."
